Our Story

Welcome to our story! We know you're wondering, how on earth did Charlii find someone that matches her...'uniqueness'? The same way she gets everything else: on the internet!

How did we meet?

We both 'swiped right' in September of 2020. Jase's profile was adorned with gym photos, looking very stern and gym-bro. However - his 'about me' caption didn't quite match his photos, being the lyrics to one of Charlii's favourite childhood shows The Saddle Club. Something didn't add up and Charlii needed to know more. Jase swiped right because "she looks nice and normal". Heh. Sucker.

And then what happened?

We had our fist date at a pirate rum bar by the river, and bonded instantly over our love of lame musicals. When Jase giggled in excitement (like a school girl) over the music of The Greatest Showman, Charlii thought "this guy is weird. He's perfect".

How did we end up here?

By December 2020, we'd survived a pandemic and Jase had professed his love (Charlii did also, just a bit later).

For the next 5 years we celebrated birthdays, Christmases, new jobs,  new cars, new babies (not ours - could you imagine?!), business start ups and holidays. We moved in together in 2022 - Charlii soon turning Jase's bachelor pad into a designer-acceptable home. With our final mini-dachshund puppy sized puzzle piece falling into place, it was time.

How did Jase Propose?

Every winter, we take a long weekend away in some kind of wintery forest getaway. July 2025 our snuggly rainforest weekend was booked in the studio apartment of the lovely Elm House. After shopping in the nearby Samford Velley for romantic dinner foodstuffs, Jase sent Charlii upstairs to fetch Crumpet's puppy wee mat. Wee mat in hand, Charlii comes back down the stairs. As she does, she hears Jase ask as he so often does, 'Will you live your life with me?' and replies as she always does "yes pleaseeeee".

But this time, at the bottom of the stairs was Jase on one knee, ring box in hand (upside down), bawling his little eyes out. No more words were said, the wee mat was dropped and forgotten, crumpet looked on in confusion as we got engaged.

Nearly exactly 1 year later, we are so excited and lucky to be sharing Elm House with you as our wedding venue. It now holds very special memories for us, and we cant wait to add more special memories to the vault.

Frequently Asked Questions
(usually by Jase)

What's the general 'vibe', is there a plan?

Never fear, there is some semblance of a plan. The 'vibe' we are aiming for is very casual and relaxed. Think never ending cocktail hour with many snackos, drinks and great dinner foods. Dinner is not a fancy schmancy sit down affair, and we will not be forcing speeches onto anyone.

But what shall I wear??

Our biggest priority is that you’re comfy! The dress code is cocktail, but absolutely no tight collars or stuffy ties required. Comfy sneakers with dresses are encouraged.

We’re leaning into moody dark jewel tones and cosy winter vibes, so feel free to dress with the season in mind.

Just a heads-up: it’ll be mid-winter and the mountains sit about 5 degrees cooler than Brisbane so warm layers are your best friend!

Do I need to eat beforehand?

We recommend a light lunch, but don't fill up! We will have plethora of cheese nibbles during cocktail hour directly after the ceremony. Nibbles will be followed by  endless fresh wood fired pizza for dinner, made on site. For those with tummy issues, we are keeping all vegos', gluten/dairy free and pig intolerant people in mind.

What is the parking situation?

There is space for around 20 cars to the front of the property. Once you arrive, you'll see a gravel area right out front with room for a few cars, but if you keep going past a bit there is more room for parking.

Any out of the ordinary questions please message Charlii through your preferred method of communication. Do not attempt to ask Jase any questions, the poor man will be confuddled. We all know he wont read this.

WILL CRUMPET BE THERE?

Crumpy will be making a guest appearance during cocktail hour!  We couldn't celebrate our biggest milestone without our bestest friend
